DESCRIPTION:Save the date for the grand opening of the newly renovated historic Crenshaw Fire Station #54\, held on Saturday\, September 9th from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm (5730 S Crenshaw Blvd\, 90043). During the grand opening celebration\, guests can enjoy light refreshments\, local performances\, and DJ. The first 100 attendees will receive a $10 voucher to use at the Crenshaw Farmers’ Market. Raffle prizes will also be given throughout the day. \nThis historic Crenshaw Fire Station #54\, originally known as Engine Company No. 54\, opened on June 19th\, 1924\, and operated until September 20th\, 1989\, when it was closed. Today\, historic Crenshaw Fire Station #54 operates as a shared community facility for local organizations to host meetings\, events\, and offer services. DESCRIPTION:The annual Congress of Neighborhoods happens on Saturday\, September 23rd at LA City Hall! \nWhile the event is free to attend\, you’ll get free parking\, breakfast\, and lunch if you RSVP to the event by visiting: http://NeighborhoodCongress.LA \nPlease sign up ASAP\, to help the caterer get an accurate headcount and ensure there’s enough food for everyone. \nThe Congress is a day of education and networking that gathers more than 500 Neighborhood Council leaders each year together with local elected officials and staff from City departments and other LA-area agencies. NC members get the opportunity to learn from each other; meet their City Councilmembers and others who represent them; and connect with service providers. \nThis is the first time the Congress has been held in person since 2019! Neighborhood Council board and committee members\, as well as members of the public who are interested in community service and local issues\, are all welcome to attend. \nEVENT SCHEDULE + WORKSHOPS \nThe event takes place from 8am – 4:30pm\, but you may come and go as you please. See the event schedule here. \nMore than 20 workshops and panel discussions are being offered this year\, in 3 sessions. You can attend any that you like;  there are sessions on everything from hot issues like homelessness and housing\, to skill-building on topics like leadership or land use issues.
