The Park Mesa Heights Community Council organized and conducted a successful clean up of the area around the Van Ness Recreation Center on March 31. About 25 dedicated volunteers and their children showed up bright and early, ready to work! After a fortifying breakfast, safety instruction and donning of vests, volunteers fanned out collecting over 50 bags of trash and coordinating the pick up of two large trucks of bulky items. The area cleaned was Van Ness on the east to 3rd Ave on the west, 57th Street on the north to Slauson on the south. This was a fun and productive event making a big improvement in our community and giving kids an opportunity to learn about keeping their neighborhood clean.

Thank you to the Empowerment Congress Central for providing breakfast, Council District 8 for assisting with trash, palm tree debris and bulky item pick up and to the Metro Crenshaw Community Leadership Council for event promotion and volunteers.

Thank you to everyone who participated!
