The LA Times reported on August 25, 2021 that the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza sold to Harridge Development Group after a two year contentious process. The developer also purchased the Macy’s Department Store in a separate transaction and now controls most of the property. They plan to build housing in the parking lot near Albertsons and make other improvements.
The shopping center started with the opening of two department stores in 1947. One of those stores was the third store May Company opened in Los Angeles.
