Destination Crenshaw at CAAM
January 11 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
As part of a community partnership between the California African American Museum (CAAM) and Destination Crenshaw, we invite you to start the year with art that looks back and looks forward. Experience World Without End: The George Washington Carver Project, part of Getty’s PST ART: Art and Science Collide initiative, and Simone Leigh co-presented in Los Angeles with LACMA.
World Without End features contemporary artworks alongside George Washington Carver’s rarely seen paintings, laboratory equipment, and notebooks. Carver’s work as a scientist, artist, and advocate for environmental justice echoes Destination Crenshaw’s thematic motif of Grow Where You’re Planted and dedication to celebrating the artistry and resilience of Black culture. Simone Leigh is the first comprehensive survey of the richly layered work of this celebrated artist.
