From Council President Marqueece Harris Dawson:

One of my main priorities is ensuring that our streets are safe and that public safety is approached through a community-driven lens. We’ve seen the data showing that when drivers get pulled over for minor infractions, it does not lead to safer neighborhoods. We also know that many of the drivers getting pulled over pretextually (stop and frisk in a car) are Black and Brown residents in LA. To keep everyone safe, we must do better, and we need to hear from you!

The City Council will review data on these stops and hear from the public this week for a special joint committee meeting at City Hall on March 6 at 1:00 p.m.

Read more about recent data on pretextual stops here.

Meeting Details:

When: Friday, March 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
Where: Los Angeles City Hall – Council Chambers
200 N. Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012
