Rock the block

White Hall Arts Academy is hosting their 2nd Annual Rock The Block, a free family-focused community festival on Sunday July 30, 2023 (https://www.rocktheblockla.com) on 54th Street between 4th and 7th Aves from 12-5pm. White Hall Arts Academy singularly produced the event last year with attendance of over 1,000 community members. This year Park Mesa Heights Community Council is partnering with WHAA to provide their resources to create an even better experience for our residents.

This year’s festival is in partnership with Park Mesa Heights Neighborhood Council and will be focused around Community Wellness, Economic Empowerment and Change Makers. We have confirmed some great partnerships thus far with the LAPD hosting a Self-Defense workshop on the Main Stage, LAFD with a fire safety and fire truck demonstration, the LA28 Olympic organization providing 600 sports themed gift-bags to our youth attendees, partnerships with Providence Healthcare, Metro LA and Alliance Charter School, and more! Confirmed guests are Macy Gray, Guordan Banks, Jordan brand designer and model Aleali May, Assemblyman Issac Bryan, LA City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson, Pastor JP Foster of Faithful Central Bible Church, DJ Battlecat, The Poetess, SCETCH, Slauson Girl and Tiffany Haddish’s She Ready Foundation.

Rock the Block will feature several activation focuses including a huge Kid’s Zone hosted by Boomer The Clown and Boom Squad Academy. The Kid’s Zone Stage is an opportunity for youth from our community youth to showcase their talents. The Parent’s Zone will have informational sessions on health and wellness along with demonstrations. We will also have activity zones including an Education Zone, Tech Zone and Art Zone and there will be vendor booths available to promote local organizations and services.
