City Council Votes to Create Unarmed Response Teams
Fox 11 reported October 14, 2020 that the Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously to created unarmed response teams for nonviolent calls. Their next step is to issue a request for proposal to find a non-profit partner to implement this concept.

Baldwin Hills Mall Sold
The Los Angeles Times reports that the Baldwin Hills Mall has been sold to New York developers. The current owners had been criticized for not using part of the mall for housing which had been approved by the city with the previous owners. The future owners, LIVWRK planned to consult the community prior to creating any plans.
PMHCC Sponsors Pet Food Giveaway
PMHCC proudly sponsored a pet food giveaway with City Councilmember Herb Wesson on Saturday, October 3, 2020. Over 200 bags for food were given and over 60 animals were signed up for free veterinary services.
KYCC Offers On Site Elementary Program
KYCC Youth Services has opened onsite services for Kindergarten to 5th-Grade students for families who are looking for full-day or half-day child care, school assistance, homework help, and enrichment activities.

The Park Mesa Heights Community Council stocked and distributed 1,000 starter backpacks as go bags with an emergency blanket, glow sticks, hygiene supplies and information about emergency readiness and Park Mesa Heights Community Council. We encourage you to prepare your own Go Bag during this Emergency Preparedness Month.
