Full street closure updates for Slauson at Crenshaw and detours.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the Baldwin Hills Mall has been sold to New York developers. The current owners had been criticized for not using part of the mall for housing which had been approved by the city with the previous owners. The future owners, LIVWRK planned to consult the community prior to creating any plans.

SB 1120 almost passed the California Legislature and would have allowed duplexes on single family home lots, effectively changing the character of our community.

The Office of Council District 8 has received a notice of demolition for 6529 Brynhurst Ave.

If you are interested in speed humps for your street, be prepared to complete the application when it opens on September 16, 8am. The first 30 applications in Council District 8 will be considered.

This is a special opportunity for our stakeholders from Hyde Park, Angeles Mesa and View Heights to hear directly from State Senator Holly Mitchell and ask questions about pending legislation that would change the very character of our communities.

Please contact your state senator, assemblyman and the governor to oppose these nine bills that are coming through the pipeline. They are all on break now, because of Covid-19 exposure in Sacramento. If you would recall, SB50 was defeated last year. However, all of these bills have components of SB50. They pit communities against each other, and target single family home communities.
